Workshop Manager - Rewind Division

Location: Kenya, Africa
Contract Type: Permanent or 1-2 Year Contract (Depending on Candidate Preference)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee and lead the rewind division for a well-established company specialising in electrical and mechanical trades. This is a supervisory role, with minimal hands-on involvement, focusing on overseeing processes, maintaining high-quality standards, and driving improvements in workshop operations.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role offers significant career progression opportunities, including stepping into an Operations Manager role in the near future as part of the company's succession planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and oversee the daily operations of the rewind division.

  • Ensure high-quality standards are met and maintained.

  • Improve processes and workflows within the division.

  • Support the development and growth of the high-voltage business while continuing to manage the low-voltage core operations.

  • Lead and inspire a technical team of 54 staff members.

  • Liaise with clients, including major global companies, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Additional Services Provided by the Company:

  • Rewinding and Overhauling: Rotating electrical equipment, including motors, generators, and pumps, up to 3MW, 3.3kV in-house.

  • Transformer Services: Rewind and overhaul transformers up to 300kVA / 11kV.

  • Mechanical Services: Diagnosing and repairing bearing fits, rotor shafts, and slip-ring units, including vibration analysis and dynamic balancing.

  • Industry-Standard Testing: Insulation resistance, pulse surge, HV tests, and efficiency/load testing based on EASA good practices.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience within a workshop environment, ideally in electrical/mechanical trades.

  • Knowledge of AEMT (The Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades) or EASA is advantageous.

  • Strong understanding of low-voltage systems with exposure to high-voltage systems being highly desirable.

  • Fluency in English is essential, as the business predominantly operates in English.

  • A hands-on, process-driven leader with excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (30-minute lunch + 15-minute break).

  • Flexibility to work on Saturdays/Sundays if required.

Initial interviews conducted via Teams, followed by an in-person meeting with the Operations Manager in the UK or Europe.
