Senior Mechanical Estimator

Mane are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their client. You will serve as a key member of the estimating team, you will be responsible for producing accurate mechanical cost estimates within designated timeframes. Training will be provided to develop expertise in cost estimating software. This role involves preparing tenders for projects across Ireland and the UK, spanning industries such as Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semi-Conductors, and Commercial developments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of tender documents, including drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Perform precise quantity take-offs and annotate measured drawings.
  • Source, manage, and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Submit and track tender queries and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Develop detailed costed bills of quantities.
  • Compile tender reports, pricing schedules, and all necessary tender submission documents.
  • Identify and propose value engineering opportunities.
  • Maintain and update the estimating database.
  • Attend meetings and site visits as needed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to tender submission deadlines.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
  • Oversee mechanical estimators, delegating tasks effectively.
  • Carry out additional duties as required.

Candidate Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical, Process, or Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 to 20 years of experience in mechanical estimating, including a minimum of 3-5 years in a senior estimator role.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and general computer applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services.
  • Familiarity with different mechanical and process pipework materials.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, perform detailed take-offs, and develop comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Excellent communication, numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, work efficiently, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
