Position Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced aerodynamicist to join our Aerodynamics department in Oxfordshire. This role offers a great chance for someone looking to advance their career and apply their expertise to enhance the performance of future F1 race cars.

Key Responsibilities

Working within the aerodynamic group, you will leverage your knowledge of race car aerodynamics across all environments, including CFD, Wind Tunnel (WT), and track, to optimize development strategies and maximize the long-term aerodynamic performance of the race car.

As Senior Aerodynamicist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Innovative Aerodynamic Concepts: Utilize appropriate tools and technologies to create and deliver cutting-edge aerodynamic concepts for testing.
  • Mentoring Junior Aerodynamicists: Provide guidance to junior team members, helping them to develop and improve their skills and output.
  • Identifying Process Improvements: Recognize and implement opportunities for enhancing processes within the aerodynamics department.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with your team to identify necessary tools and technologies to accelerate development rates.
  • Wind Tunnel Operations: Assist in planning and executing Wind Tunnel tests, ensuring the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyzing CFD & Wind Tunnel Results: Conduct analysis and provide detailed reports on CFD and Wind Tunnel data to establish strong aerodynamic solutions and recommendations.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Maintain clear communication and share information across the department and the broader team to foster collaboration.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in Formula 1 Aerodynamics: Proven experience working within aerodynamics in a Formula 1 team.
  • Expertise in CFD and Wind Tunnel Techniques: Advanced understanding and practical experience with CFD and Wind Tunnel methods.
  • Strong Knowledge of Aerodynamic Fundamentals: Deep understanding of the principles of aerodynamics.
  • Proficiency in CAD & CFD Software: Skilled in the use of relevant design and simulation software.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to drive outcomes under tight deadlines through effective problem-solving.
  • Strategic Vision: Experience in understanding the broader picture, such as in-depth analysis of results, correlation investigations, innovative data use, and non-standard models/tests.
  • Influential Leadership: Strong ability to gain buy-in and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Innovative Thinking: Willingness to challenge current methods and theories to drive progress.
