Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Aerodynamics Project Leader to collaborate closely with Principal Aerodynamicists and lead a team of skilled aerodynamicists. This role is centered on guiding and empowering team members to develop innovative aerodynamic solutions for a specific area of the car.

Key Responsibilities

As an Aerodynamics Project Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Achieving Aerodynamic Objectives: Work towards clear aerodynamic goals, maximizing the group's learning through effective utilization of CFD and experimental data.
  • Enhancing Aerodynamic Understanding: Improve the department's aerodynamic insights through thorough analysis and communication of CFD and experimental results.
  • Team Development: Support and mentor less-experienced team members, fostering their growth and technical skills.
  • Wind Tunnel Testing: Plan, prepare, and execute successful wind tunnel test sessions.
  • Reporting and Collaboration: Generate clear reports on results and theories that encourage critical discussion and idea-sharing within the team.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain a deep understanding of the aerodynamic package within the group's responsibility, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and technical innovation.
  • Cross-Department Communication: Foster positive relationships and ensure clear communication throughout the department and across the broader team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • Extensive F1 Aerodynamic Experience: Several years of experience in F1 aerodynamic development.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to collaborate across functions and departments.
  • Influential Leadership: Strong ability to gain buy-in and drive collaboration across departments.
  • Mentorship Ability: Proven experience in developing and guiding less experienced team members.
  • Aerodynamic Expertise: Deep understanding of aerodynamic fundamentals.
  • CFD Proficiency: Familiarity with CFD techniques, including non-standard models.
  • CAD Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD for designing aerodynamic surfaces, with experience in Siemens NX being advantageous.
