Operating within an international scope, you'll leverage your procurement expertise to facilitate effective category management within mechanical and electromechanical components. This entails devising and executing category strategies and nurturing supplier relationships.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with customers as a strategic partner to grasp category expectations and comprehend mid-term systems development and production requirements.
  • Cultivating a comprehensive understanding of the supplier market, managing associated risks and seizing opportunities to bolster business objectives.
  • Evaluating the current performance of the category, identifying and bridging gaps between business needs and performance expectations.
  • Formulating a category strategy and developing a comprehensive strategic execution plan to attain category objectives, securing key stakeholder approval.
  • Initiating the sourcing of new products and overseeing the assessment, evaluation, and approval of new suppliers.
  • Negotiating and overseeing the execution of framework contracts with suppliers.
  • Assisting buyers in conducting competitions and negotiations aligned with the strategy, ensuring optimal value delivery for the business.
  • Maintaining responsibility for supplier relationships to guarantee their capability to meet forecasted demand and enhance performance in terms of timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

We are looking for the following experience

  • Preferably, we seek a CIPS-certified procurement expert with a background in direct procurement within high-technology industrial firms. Additional experience collaborating with international teams is advantageous.
  • You should have prior experience crafting and executing procurement category strategies, alongside the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and suppliers to achieve desired outcomes.
  • This role offers an exceptional chance to broaden your expertise across vital procurement categories within the defence sector. Moreover, it involves collaborating internationally with fellow procurement specialists, internal partners (such as design, production, procurement colleagues, technical authority, legal), and key suppliers.
