Overview:
We are currently supporting a well-established international provider of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) in their search for experienced Mechanics to join their expanding team at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
This is a fantastic opportunity for skilled professionals with a background in heavy vehicles to step into the aviation sector and work with a leading name in airport ground operations.
The Role:
As a GSE Mechanic, you'll be responsible for carrying out the maintenance, servicing, and repair of various airport support vehicles and equipment. This includes both diesel-powered machinery and electric vehicles used in airside operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on GSE including:
Loaders, staircases, and diesel towing vehicles
Electric buses and other mobile airport support equipment
Diagnose and repair faults across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Interpret and work from electrical schematics and technical manuals
Support breakdowns and carry out unscheduled repairs when required
Ensure all work complies with relevant safety and operational standards
Keep accurate service records and report any issues promptly
Ideal Candidate:
Background in truck, bus, HGV, or heavy plant maintenance
Strong mechanical skills, with additional knowledge of hydraulics and the ability to read electrical schematics
Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable working in a high-paced airport environment
Previous experience working with GSE is an advantage but not essential
Must be eligible for Netherlands airport security clearance (essential for additional working hours)
Willing to work 40 hours per week (above contracted 38) where applicable
Requirements:
Relevant technical training or qualifications in mechanics or automotive engineering
Full EU/UK driver's licence
Visa sponsorship and full visa management available for UK-based candidates - covered by the company
Immediate availability is highly desirable
