Mane are looking for a Mechanical Tendering Engineer to join their client on a permanent basis. This role will suit someone from a Mechanical Design background with design experience to bridge the gap between their engineering and estimation department.

The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, well-organized with strong management skills, able to anticipate issues, analyze scope gaps and technical specifications, and develop appropriate contingency measures. We strive to deliver with integrity and excellence and are committed to earning the trust of all clients and employees.

The successful candidate will possess a blend of strong technical and soft skills, have technical knowledge of mechanical engineering-particularly in technical specifications for piping systems and equipment performance specifications against client requirements-and have the communication skills necessary to convey changes, deviations, and design implications to clients. Candidates must be able to interact with project and client teams and take the lead on all technical queries and issues that may arise during the tendering process.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the tender-stage engineering requirements by managing and liaising with key project stakeholders (client design team, main contractor, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.).
  • Review design specifications and drawings to fully understand the project scope.
  • Assess the coordination status of design information, identifying the state of design models and quantifying work required to develop to LOD350 fabrication stage.
  • Ensure engineering activities align with the construction build schedule.
  • Engage with vendors for technical support and value engineering solutions.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure plant and equipment offerings meet the required specifications.
  • Assess equipment specifications for suitability and propose value-engineering options.
  • Review client-issued design documentation to assess quality and robustness.
  • Attend client meetings during the tender stage of projects.
  • Present technical reports and value-engineering selections to clients as part of post-tender reviews.
  • Liaise with clients and draft reports for Directors and other relevant parties.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure designs meet legal and regulatory requirements in collaboration with client project management teams and contractors.
  • Provide technical support to the construction engineering team during the early project phases.
  • Perform material take-offs from P&IDs.
  • Review P&IDs against 3D-coordinated models.
  • Develop and maintain risk registers to outline project risks and opportunities based on technical reviews.

Candidate Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will possess the following:

  • 5+ years' experience working with a recognized mechanical contractor in process mechanical/pipework (experience with a design consultancy is preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and project planning skills.
  • Experience with Project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
