Mechanical Design Engineer - Future Concepts
Location: Bristol (Relocation package available)
Work Arrangement: 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience

The Role:
Are you an experienced Mechanical Designer with a passion for pioneering projects in defence? If so, we want to hear from you!
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team involved in the design of complex mechanical defence systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will lead the development of future projects, including sub-systems and components, providing your Mechanical Engineering expertise to the team. You will have the opportunity to shape the direction of development and prototype designs as these thrilling projects are in their early stages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical sub-systems and components for defence projects.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering expertise and insights to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Influence project direction through innovative prototype designs.
  • Engage in both research and mainstream project work to advance defence technology.

What We're Looking For From You:

  • A good understanding of Mechanical Design, including an appreciation of packaging electronics and thermal considerations.
  • The ability to develop concept design solutions with limited information and changing requirements.
  • Wider awareness of other fields such as Structural Design and Low Observability, which would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with, influence, and negotiate with collaborators across the business.
  • Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on our preferred CAE tools will be provided).
