Working Hours:
Monday to Thursday: 07:30 - 16:00
Friday: 07:30 - 13:00
About the Role:
We are looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of machining and grinding operations within our machine shop. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in manual machining and be proficient with various machines, such as manual lathes, Bridgeport, Colchester, and Cincinnati machines.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate a range of manual machining tools, including lathes, mills, and grinders, to produce high-quality components.
Use Bridgeport, Colchester, and Cincinnati machines for turning and milling operations.
Perform cylindrical and surface grinding, with experience in using Studer grinding machines (knowledge of Jones and Shipman machines is a plus).
Carry out balancing tasks using Schenck balancing equipment (prior experience preferred).
Undertake general machining tasks such as milling, turning, linishing, fettling, lathe work, bench fitting, and ultrasonic cleaning.
Interpret engineering drawings and follow instructions to meet machining requirements.
Work both independently and collaboratively in a busy machine shop environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Strong experience with manual lathes.
Proficiency in grinding and balancing techniques, with knowledge of Studer grinding machines and Schenck balancing machinery being advantageous.
Previous experience in the aerospace or military sectors is desirable.
Eligibility for BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance is required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Extensive experience in manual machining and grinding techniques.
Ability to work to very tight tolerances.
Experience with Schenck balancing machinery and Studer grinding plants is beneficial.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.
Must be able to provide 3 years of employment history.
A CRB check and address verification are required.
