Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain controlled document registers and associated documentation.
  • Oversee the management of design, surveying, and BIM modelling teams.
  • Manage the design and coordination for off-site pre-manufacturing, including client and contractor-procured equipment.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and collaborate on design changes or new issues.
  • Define and plan construction methodology and installation sequences.
  • Approve technical submittals and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate contractor's design works (CDP).
  • Support the commercial team with cost assessments for design changes.
  • Assist in developing the Design Delivery Schedule alongside the client, Project Manager, design team, and consultants.
  • Develop detailed scope-of-work and contract document deliverables for each discipline.
  • Negotiate scope, deliverables, and fees with consulting firms.
  • Manage the procurement process for design services from initial tender enquiry to appointment.
  • Support the Project Manager in tracking design and cost issues to mitigate risks.
  • Allocate and manage project workloads within the team and with design consultants.
  • Collaborate on addressing new design challenges and changes, as well as conducting research with the team.
  • Ensure completed designs are accurate and meet project requirements.
  • Manage design document control and ensure proper prioritisation of design tasks.
  • Lead and supervise an experienced design team to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Implement recovery strategies if delays occur.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in planning, programming, and reporting activities.
  • Attend design meetings and provide input to optimise designs and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure work complies with company procedures and guidelines.
  • Oversee the integration of specialist models and fabrication drawings across disciplines to deliver a coordinated design for site teams.

Qualification

  • Background in MEP and CSA disciplines (Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering preferred; Architectural, Structural, or Civil Engineering considered).
  • 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Solid experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Project management expertise across all design phases, including time and cost management of design fees.
  • Proven ability to manage large teams effectively.
  • Experience working in a BIM environment.
