Role Overview:

As a Composite Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing advanced composite structures for our Formula 1 cars. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure that our designs meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes, along with a strong background in Formula 1 design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Create innovative composite designs for various components of the Formula 1 car, including but not limited to chassis, wings, and bodywork.
  • CAD Modeling: Utilize CAD software to produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings of composite parts.
  • Material Selection: Select appropriate composite materials and processes to meet design requirements and optimize performance.
  • Analysis and Testing: Conduct structural analysis and testing of composite components to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and manufacturing teams to integrate composite designs into the overall vehicle architecture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in composite materials and manufacturing techniques to continuously improve design and production processes.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of design specifications, test results, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in composite design within the Formula 1 industry is essential.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX), FEA tools, and composite material analysis.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and structural analysis.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Problem Solver: Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to overcoming technical challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of design and documentation.
