Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer - Battery Cooling Systems

Position Overview:

  • We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the integration, design, and calculation of battery cooling systems.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability of our battery cooling solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design and integration of battery cooling systems for electric vehicles, ensuring compatibility with vehicle architecture and performance requirements.
  • Conduct thermal analysis and calculations to optimise the cooling efficiency and thermal management of battery packs, considering factors such as heat generation, airflow, and environmental conditions.
  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings for battery cooling components and systems, utilising industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and battery specialists to ensure seamless integration of cooling systems with battery modules and management systems.
  • Perform structural analysis and simulations to validate the mechanical integrity and durability of cooling system components under various operating conditions.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing partners to oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of battery cooling components, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and best practices in battery thermal management to drive innovation and enhance the performance of our EVs.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to cross-functional teams during product development phases, including design reviews, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design and engineering, with a focus on thermal management systems for automotive applications.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and finite element analysis (FEA) tools.
  • Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics.
  • Experience with battery systems, cooling technologies, and electric vehicle design is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
